The IIIT, Kalyani (Code: IKL) is given under the list of Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITS, IIITM & IIITDM). All the interested candidates are requested to follow the admissions criteria explained on the CSAB website.
The Government of West Bengal has selected Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur as the Mentor Institute for IIIT, Kalyani. This Institute is country's second oldest institution for engineering education and has a long and chequered history. It was formerly an institution under the State Government of West Bengal and known as Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur.
In March 2014, recognizing the institute's contribution to engineering for more than a century and its potential for further excellence, it was elevated to national status thus renaming it to IIEST Shibpur and granting it the status of Institutes of National Importance.
The first Director of the IIIT, Kalyani is the Director of Mentor Institute i.e Dr. Ajay Kumar Ray. He has been actively involved in the development of course curriculum, faculty selection of the Institute. Under his guidance and experience, the IIIT, Kalyani will soon become one of the world renowned Institutions offering various innovative courses and research facilities.
